Growth Catalyst proves a boost to business

Mill Hill Consultants were selected in 2014 to run the coaching element of Growth Catalyst for the University of Liverpool and have now successfully delivered two full programmes.  GrowthCatalyst is a business growth programme, developed by the University’s Management School for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) operating within the Liverpool City Region (LCR).

The purpose of this eight month programme is to improve the productivity and profitability of SME’s by improving their leadership abilities, business processes and the confidence of owner managers. The university recognises that running a business can be a lonely, isolating existence with nobody to turn to for advice and support or to exchange ideas. Many owner /managers reach a point where they can no longer go it alone and need help to take their businesses to the next level. Key to the success of the programme is the establishment of a strong support network through one-to-one coaching and peer-to-peer support from like-minded owner managers.

Recent research has shown that those who engage in a “strategic” approach to their organisations, are likely to be more profitable with a greater capacity to grow, innovate and develop new products. That is exactly what the coaching element of this programme focused on and why it has proved the most successful element of the entire programme. The one-to-one sessions allowed business leaders to focus on their individual business needs and also areas for their own personal development as leaders.

“The quality of coaching provided by Ros Faulkner and her team was excellent.  89% of the participants  strongly agreed (the highest category) that the coaching provided by Mill Hill Consultants delivered significant value to  their business. Having been a successful business owner  in her own right, Ros knows first-hand the pressures faced by the model owner manager and uses this unique insight to support and advise her clients, to great effect. Ros is highly professional , a great listener and encourages  and supports her clients  with great  care and attention, I would thoroughly recommend her.”  Richard Holloway Project Manager, Centre for Enterprise, University of Liverpool Management School.

Some comments from delegates:

“Although it is always difficult for any business leader to find time I would have happily attended extra coaching sessions as I found coaching particularly valuable.”

“I really liked my coach’s approach, she gave me time to de-clutter my thoughts and this gave me more focus on what I wanted to achieve. After each session I felt like I had been put through the wringer (in a good way!) and it really helped to clarify my vision both personally and professionally.”

“The coaching was excellent- the best part of the programme and it really helped to clarify my vision personally and professionally.”

“I really enjoyed this programme and found Ros, my coach, to be highly supportive.”

“I created a 3 year strategic plan and although it is too early for tangible benefits, as an organization we are more focused and I was able to implement one of our strategic aims much quicker due to the input of my coach.”
